A good dagger should be part of any sensible, military equipment, whether it be historical or modern. Daggers have always been an extremely important companion weapon and the handy tool of a swordsman. The Roman legionaries carried their Pugio daggers, Vikings carried their infamous Sax as a tool and as an effective close-combat weapon in a shield wall and in later times, daggers were and are of special significance as a secondary weapon. Cold Steel and in particular its president, Lynn C. Thompson, has developed a fine selection of historically accurate, sharpened daggers or companion daggers drawing on his decades of experience in combat and weapons sports, sword fighting and self-defence sports and his consequent enthusiasm for historical edged weapons.
